Rarely do you want to record a show as much as at Christmas. Because you know this scenario for sure: Even if there’s nothing of note on TV most days of the week, on the weekend your favorite TV series, a good movie and an interesting quiz are on at the same time. It’s particularly bad at Christmas when all broadcasters turn on the real highlights and fill their programs with them. As nice as it is to have a wide choice, you can’t watch all the shows at the same time.
If you still don’t want to miss anything, you should browse the media libraries afterwards, hoping that the program you want can be found there. Alternatively, you can easily record the broadcast.
Modern TV sets with a USB port usually offer an integrated recording function. This makes it possible to record a broadcast on an external storage medium at the push of a button. USB sticks or external hard drives are often used here. However, not all devices have this function. When buying, the keywords “PVR”, “recording” and similar keywords indicate functionality.
But the technology also has disadvantages. For example, it is not possible to change the channel while recording is in progress. In order to change the channel, the recording must first be interrupted. This is absurd because you don’t want to watch another program instead of watching the recorded program.
Also, many private channels are recorded in HD format using the technology because it is illegal.
